Magnolia Pictures released a brand new trailer for its latest documentary I AM NOT YOUR NEGRO. Nominated for an NAACP Award for “Best Documentary” the new trailer features the daring personality of American novelist and social critic James Baldwin.
I AM NOT YOUR NEGRO hits theaters February 3rd and picks up from an unfinished manuscript called “Remember This House”, a memoir of Baldwin’s personal encounters of civil rights leaders and friends Medgar Evers, Malcolm X and Martin Luther King, Jr.
Narrated by Samuel L Jackson, master filmmaker Raoul Peck brings the unfinished product to life with an up to date exploration of race in America using Baldwin’s original words and archival material. The film takes you on a journey into black history; past Civil Rights movements up to this very present questioning black representation in Hollywood and beyond. After viewing I AM NOT YOUR NEGRO you may find yourself asking what "America stands for”.
Check out the trailer and mark your calendars to catch this much needed documentary in theaters!
