Toni&Guy is the worlds leading multi- award winning hairdressing brand in education and haircare expertise. For the first time in history Toni&Guy’s Creative Release was open to the public featuring a live runway show developed by Zak Mascolo - Heir and Creative Director of the Americas showcasing two collections. The first collection, Euphoria, a series of five advanced cut and colour techniques and the second collection Alter Ego pushes the boundaries with the introduction of five men’s clipper cuts – the first time in TONI&GUY history.
Stylists, cosmetologists and students that all flocked to the scene to get a first hand lesson from TONI&GUY’s Creative Director and his colleagues on the innovative techniques. Addison’s Intercontinental Dallas- Crystal Floor was transformed into hair enthusiasts paradise. The scene was full of fun and flirty photo booths, Blk Water (yes, black drinking water), Tigi candy booth, a full on pop up shop featuring attire designed by Zak’s wife Caroline, coined "#AHWB Capsule Collection” (All Hairstylists Wear Black) available exclusively for the Creative Release attendees. A cool “Patch It Up” booth was set up just in case you wanted to purchase funky TONI&GUY patches to give your new threads a personalized look.
Getting a sneak peak backstage I gained a new perspective inside the hair world. I walked around taking in stylists who were working tirelessly to create eccentric braided styles. What was more impressive was how hands on Zak Mascolo is in making sure each detail was perfected. Picking up tools to create and pinpointing the final touches on the looks as he went from station to station. Samantha Finley- National Creative Director shared that "they love to do a variation of short to long because everything is in.” “We have evolved into clippering” a combo of using clipper and shears.
I personally took in the variety of colors, cuts and styles that took over the room. I met a group of stylists from Keller, TX whom I call “The Keller Girls” that were ecstatic to learn the new techniques! Its exciting to see a brand so close to home and hear stylists ask “What Toni&Guy are you from?” or share the fascination for the enterprise as they trot across the room in awe of each others hair.
Taking to the stage with cheers from the audience of over 2,000 Zak Mascolo and crew shared new tricks to the trade for stylists to put to use! Aside from an in depth experience in the world of Toni& Guy the Creative Release opened my eyes to the abundance of hair culture.
