Style & Sophistication, Bold Patterns, Sheer Gowns and Jason Derulo?? Get An Inside Look at Art

The Art Hearts Fashion events are always top priority when attending NYFW. Why? Because the selection of diverse designers presenting will be nothing like you see at most commercial shows. These creators take risks, necessary fashion risks.

This years 2016 Fall/Winter events were held at Angel Orensanz Foundation Event Space in Manhattan. Upon entering, you were met with stairs leading up to what looked like an old Vatican Church that had been turned into a museum- a museum displaying Latin fashions. Full of colorful art on the wall, the space was truly breathtaking with musical tunes fit with the theme. Anxiously taking my front row seat I couldn’t wait to see models glaze down the runway.

Opening up the show with Mexican Designer Gregorio Sanchez whose line included hues of black, whites, reds and blues garnished with hand embroidered appliqués atop plaid and checkered prints gave the audience a glimpse into what I deem “Sexy Business”. Many of the pieces reminded me of a kaleidoscope decked with piercing jewels. Sequins on tailored blazers, floor length capes, and colorful belts paired with contemporary handbag designer Kristina George was a dose of style and sophistication. Next up was a feature of lively and colorful palettes paired with brilliant patterns by designer Pineda Covalin. Models hit the path in bright geometric designs on silk scarves, handbags and garments. Pineda Covalin used this platform to showcase flowing sundresses with a twist- metallic florals with sheer shoulder straps. You can not look at this compilation of patterns with out being drawn into its intensity. I’ve never laid my eyes upon such patterns that speak to my soul!

Closing the show was a collection that I must say, “definitely stood out”. Not because celebrity model Daphe Joy and her curves graced the runway or singer Jason Durelo in the audience but because fashion designer Willfredo Gerardo presented a compilation of dazzling, sheer gold, silver, and sparkling white glistening garments that solidified how it felt with ice and snow on the New York City streets. Willfredo Gerardo closed the evening with as assembly of glowing gowns twinkling with glamour down the runway.
