Thursday night I was invited to view the new event space at the award winning landmark hotel Renaissance Dallas. I can’t express how much I was looking forward to checking out this Dallas skyline from the new City View Terrace but I didn’t know that I would be in for such a treat! Walking into the 16,000 square foot ballroom with my gal pal and event coordinator Rea Byerly Owens of ReaDanielle Designs we stopped, looked at each other and took a deep breath to take it all in! The space is remarkably large we didn’t know where to start! There was no other place than the top, 24 feet of vaulted ceiling and boy oh boy was that a start. It appeared the glasses up top were dancing to the beats of DJ Brandon Olds (who mixes on a 42inch LCD touchscreen). From there we worked our eyes down to the full, fall colored mini trees that adorned the room. Once the engaging scents hit our nose we headed to spy what was cooking in each corner of the ballroom. A delectable variety of antelope, squash filled ravioli, pastrami, cow cheek, steak and “the freshest oyster I’ve ever had” says Rea who enjoyed the seafood choices from Chef David MacLennan filled the mouths of guests. We grabbed a seat on the white couch enriched with modern, patterned pillows in nudes and gold’s then chatted about the signature table linens and décor. A model walks by with huge shoulder pads (by first look) and a gown shared with us the inspiration and material behind her dress were from the flooring and pillow material. Then all of a sudden an Avant- Garde fashion presentation by Jan Strimple showcasing all of the models walking the room takes place on stage featuring over the top elaborate designs influenced by the ballroom! Friend to the show Shemara Couture created a piece with an intricate oversized leather hat.
Afterwards everyone headed upstairs to view another 10,000 sq. ft., the skyline and terrace. Greeted by models in leather at the top of the escalators (the kimono took about 90 hours of work from designer Terry Wise) we headed to the outside terrace which dawns a retractable roof and ambient lighting. What a beautiful space to have brunch, drinks with your crew and enjoy the beautiful view of the city.
